Update - 21 March 2013 -    Today 21 March 2013, got this update from Dr. Beialey Hatab, EEAA, he said the EEAA Dr. Ayman Hamada and Dr. Louay El Sayed phoned GOVS, unit of Cairo, they stated they are fighting dogs and not wild animals, as if labels in strychnine poison states, this meal is for this animal, and not for this.... also Dr. Beialey stated that according to EEAA, there is no jackals in this area... who said so Doctors...... see this: مثال حي:  كارثة المقطم البيئية .... لجأت مديرية الطب البيطري الي سم الاستريكنين حين ورد بلاغين عن حالات عقر بالمقطم... و تمت حملات نشر سم يوميا بعد منتصف الليل...... دون الاستناد علي سند علمي او بحثي.... و ذهب ضحية السم كلاب ضالة مستأنسة و غيره و الكثير من الحيوانات البرية..... أين العلم.... لماذا لم يتم الاستعانة بالجهات المتخصصة من ادارة الحياه البرية أو جهاز حماية شئون البيئة...distribution: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/43/World_goldschakal.png/220px-World_goldschakal.png

Egyptian Jackal:

A large, wolf-like subspecies standing some 41 cm (16 in) in shoulder-height, with a total length of about 127 cm (50 in),[20] it seems to be larger than C. a. moreoticus.[21] It is stoutly built, with proportionately short ears. The pelt is yellowish-grey on the upper parts, and is mingled with black, which tends to collect in streaks and spots. The muzzle, the backs of the ears, and the outer surfaces of both pairs of limbs are reddish-yellow, the margins of the mouth arc white, and the terminal half of the tail is darker than the back, with a black tip.[20] In 2011, researchers from the Oxford University's Wildlife Conservation Research Unit compared the Egyptian jackal's DNA to other canids, and found it much more closely related to the grey wolf than to the golden jackal.

Strychnine competes with glycine, which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter; it thus exerts a central stimulant effect by blocking an inhibitory activity. Its use has BEEN BANNED in the UK.
